The Carbon Steel Brush #428 is a rough brush designed to remove rust and clean up tough surfaces. The tire producer / manufacturer and Canadian Tire uses this fee to pay for the collection, transportation, and processing of used tires. You can even make your own Dremel Bits. The tire producer / manufacturer of the tires you are buying, and Canadian Tire is responsible for the recycling fee that is included in your invoice. Dremel bits can be used for grinding, polishing, cutting, wood carving, engraving, sanding, cleaning, grout removal, sharpening, routing, drilling, and much more. But it can still be useful depending on your needs. I find this bit less useful than the sanding drums. #431 Another Sanding Bit is the sanding disc #411, the sanding disc is attached to a Mandrel #402 This is a flat sanding disc that can be used for sanding down surfaces and even sharpening knives. The #407 and #430 is used to hold Sanding Bands Ex. The #SC402 mandrel is mainly used to hold cut-off wheels. The #402 mandrel is mainly used to hold cut-off wheels and flat sanding discs. The #401 mandrel is mainly used to secure polishing pads. These intermediary parts are called mandrels. So you know what you should use for your next project. There are some bits for the Dremel that are just used for securing materials that wear out frequently and need to be changed out, like sanding bands and polishing pads. If you want to learn more about the bit just google “Dremel + number”.But let us end the confusion of Dremel bits. The only downside with using sanding bands for woodcarving is that you become very bound to the shape of the sanding drum and have to make your object follow the shape of the drum. To add to the list I will add some of the best wood carving bits that are used for wood carving. Wood carving is what I usually use my Dremel for. Always wear eye protection when cutting with a Dremel. They are attached to a Mandrel #401 and easily removed and changed.Dremel has its own cutting discs for cutting metal, wood, and plastic. The Felt Polishing Wheel #414, Polishing Point #422, and Polishing Wheel #429 are great for use on metals to get a shiny and smooth finish. I will group these together since it is only the shape that divides them. For those smooth polishing finishes, Dremel has provided us a bunch of different polishing wheels and pads. Sanding drums have inexpensive removable sanding bands that can be switched out when they are worn out. The Sanding drum is the most commonly used sanding bit. Sanding bits comes in many different sizes and shapes and can be used on most materials. The Sanding bit is the bit I use the most for my Dremel. They are durable, can cut into hard materials, and are actually pretty cheap. The most used bits for engraving are diamond bits. Carbide burrs are used to engrave and work with metal. CANADIAN TIRE® and the CANADIAN TIRE Triangle Design are registered trade-marks of Canadian Tire Corporation, Limited.ĭiamond bits are used to engrave glass, metal, and stone. This makes it easier for you to search up and find out more about the bit I am talking about. So I will add an # followed by a number referring to the bit throughout the article. All Official Dremel Bits are identified by a unique number. Unlike Fatal Frame IV, this game managed to be released in Australia and Europe, but it never made it to American shores. 2012 saw another Wii exclusive for the franchise, this time a remake of Fatal Frame 2. Yet despite various hints and rumours, the game was never localised for the West. Fifteen years after its original release, horror game Fatal Frame: Mask of The Lunar Eclipse is finally being released for Western audiences. Fatal Frame IV came out in Japan in 2008, exclusively for the Wii. The first three games were released for the PS2 but since then Nintendo has become more and more involved with the IP. The Fatal Frame franchise, which is known as Project Zero in Europe, is a Japanese horror series in which players fight against ghosts and spirits using an ancient camera. I bought their official Wii U system here, with all booklets, box and everything in brazilian portuguese and had no option but create a North American NNID so I could purchase games using an. The report included very little details about the game itself but it did mention that there are plans to expand the franchise into other mediums, with comics, novels and even a film in the works. I think if Koei Tecmo still has an interest in reviving the Fatal Frame franchise, they need to go back to the drawing board or give newcomers a good collection of games that made this survival horror series great in the first place. This month’s Famitsu magazine has revealed that Nintendo and Techmo Koei are working together to co-develop the next Fatal Frame title, which will be exclusive to the Wii U platform. The Zero Suit Samus and Princess Zelda costumes from the Wii U version are not included in this version though. Six years later, in that timeframe, Capcom did the opposite with Resident Evil 7 - which has now sold over 10 million copies, making it one of the most popular games in the franchise. To make matters worse, I get the impression they also didn’t want to scare away newcomers on a new system and toned the scare factor right down. This is all speculation on my part, but Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water comes off like a game that had some incredible artists with cool ideas for this setting and the Wii U tablet, but they couldn’t quite figure out a cohesive story to tell. Also, all the censorship from the original western release is still in-tact as well, so if you’re looking for a “sexy outfit” fix, you’ll have to make do with the new ones, I guess. I’m sure some folks out there will love that stuff, but it only ever kept my attention for a few minutes at most. There’s also a photo mode that lets you place different ghosts in the environment and toggle various poses for a fun diorama display. Honestly, though, with the amount of healing items your characters have on hand, you’ll rarely be in any real danger in Maiden of Black Water. To be effective at combat, all you need to master is your timing with dodges (pressing X right before an attack) and keeping a reasonable distance from the ghosts between lining up good shots. Still a few Wii U/3DS exclusives that I want but never got around to buying like Noitu Love and Mario vs DK Tipping Stars. The reality is if these characters could move at a brisk pace, it’d make dealing with the ghosts even more trivial than it already is. Funny enough, that’s pretty much the only semblance of challenge the game has going for it. However, the character movement is still painfully slow and incredibly clunky in tighter interior areas. It can still be unwieldy at times, but thankfully, you can also use analog controls if you prefer that. On the DualSense controller with gyro controls, it works well enough. Admittedly, it’s a brilliant shooting system that seemed perfect for the Wii U GamePad. Once again, you deal with ghoulish spirits by getting them in the frame, letting them get dangerously close, and dishing out big damage with fatal frames. I could even have it name the file a certain way and save it to a specific folder I had setup to auto-upload images to the CMS and then copy the image link so I could use it in my Markdown workflow that I’d cobbled together to do previewing of stuff before I put the raw HTML code in said CMS. Years ago, when I used to do a ton of iOS screenshot galleries for app reviews (this was when I was a tech journalist), I used a modified KM script from Federico Viticci and Gabe Weatherhead that would let me select a group of screenshots, resize them as two or three side-by-side with proper spacing between and then resize for the requirements of the CMS/website I worked for with a hot-key combo. So many things! Opening a specific location or app or whatever with one keystroke is great, but I often also use it to run automations/macros done in AppleScript or something else with just a few keystrokes. I point this out because something I see frequently from folks using other OSes is to mention some other approach is better than something unique to the Mac, but macOS usually also supports that other way of doing things. A GUI macro utility like Keyboard Maestro Automator / Shortcuts, which uses a combination of hard-coded, configurable actions (e.g., an image editor would provide an action to resize an image), and URL-based automation (tell OS to open a URL, URL is sent to a specific app based on a URL scheme, app performs an action).ģ. AppleScript, which often makes it faster to implement powerful scripts than a CLI because AppleScript has objects (e.g., you can iterate through the tasks in OmniFocus for example and use AppleScript's built-in date type to modify them).Ģ. It also has several other forms of automation:ġ. MacOS is of course a Unix so it has support for CLI automation as well, and it's pretty common for macOS-exclusive applications to implement it where appropriate (e.g., ). That's way too limiting, besides there isn't even a much simpler convention: every app should allow listing and changing every single keybind it uses > would be nice if there was a convention that some modifier sequence was reserved for user and should not be used by applications. search: in AHK I add comments to keybinds that allow me to easier find a shortcut across all ahk scripts in a text editor (but this isn't a perfect system either, I don't know of a perfect updated one) The solution to this problem is to ignore the app and bind to whatever is best for you, AHK overrides apps, so native shortcuts won't interfere.Īnd then if an app has a shortcut that you want to use, you could also rebind it natively within the app or if the app is dumb, just do it in AHK to `if app ` And anyway the OS (nor the MS apps like Office) isn't even good enough to list its own shortcuts I'm not listing shortcuts on Windows, I've read that it's impossible due to the way shortcuts are registered, you can at most find a list of shortcuts that aren't in use by any app by trying to set/unset them. Oh, I wasn't denying the issue exists, I was just arguing that all OS are bad at this, and Mac is no exception Put it in Keyboard Maestro and it will automatically sync to any Mac I use (I always install Keyboard Maestro). I don't bother using macOS built-in settings for things Keyboard Maestro supports for this reason. It's probably the best sync I've ever used, in 5+ years of use I've never had even the slightest hiccup. For example, the command palette in Photoshop is awful, so I just made one for my common actions in Keyboard Maestro instead.Īll of the above can sync seamlessly between computers with any file sync service (e.g., Dropbox). You can create custom command palettes (i.e., like ⇧⌘P in VS Code) for applications. E.g., you can rebind menu items to other keys, or adding key bindings to menu items that don't have keyboard shortcuts.ħ. You can bind any menu item in any application to a keystroke. One I use sometimes is running OCR on a screenshot I have on the clipboard.Ħ. It has a built-in clipboard history, with powerful features, like, processing an item from the clipboard with a Keyboard Maestro macro. I suspect a lot of uses of Karabiner can be replaced by Keyboard Maestro.ĥ. At has a ton of built-in actions to script practically anything about your system, e.g., sleep, simulating media keys, image manipulation, etc. You can record and replay GUI macros, e.g., like Vim and Emacs macros but for any application.Ĥ. You can bind any AppleScript, shell script, etc. You can easily implement your own window manager in it, e.g., replaces Moom or Magnet.Ģ. It can be used to replace ton of other third-party utilities. It's the one-stop-shop for an astounding array of powerful features. Keyboard Maestro is my favorite applications ever. The database migration wizard database field was described as "Leave blank to select it later" but this text was updated to read as "Cannot be blank" because it is a required field The Schema filter was slow (poor performance) when a lot (1000+) of schemas were present. For example, it was not possible to use the JSON data type for variables inside the stored procedure editor as JSON was added in MySQL 5.7.7. Selecting "5.7" from Default target MySQL version did not take into account changes to newer versions, as 5.7 behaved like 5.7.0 instead of a newer version. Migrating a MySQL source to a MySQL target database would fail for tables that had generated columns, as the target server rejected attempts to insert data into generated columns. When viewing the code for an existing view (SQL to create the view), hexadecimal values were truncated. Under Users and Privileges, Workbench did not allow hyphens for host names in the "limit to hosts matching" field. Exporting data to JSON was exporting NULL values as NULL instead of null, thus breaking the JSON output. Editing a remote MySQL options file via the Options File management tool would emit an unhandled exception after clicking Apply. The MySQL Enterprise Backup Restore functionality could emit an unhandled exception under some circumstances. On Linux, the Table Data Export wizard failed to complete the export process. Executing Data Import/Restore would emit an unhandled exception with Import from Self-Contained File enabled. On OS X, after creating a new model, and new diagram, right-clicking on the empty diagram background would freeze Workbench. A typo was fixed on the Configure Server Management page. For example, rather than choosing a version such as "5.7", you can now enter a specific version such as 5.7.12. The Default target MySQL version model preference is now an open text field instead of a dropdown select box. Yet in Welsh too, Latin hōra developed into the H-less awr. This is how hōra ‘hour’ has become Italian ora. We know from the written record that the consonant /h/ (as in English hat) was lost from Latin words at an early point. Did Latin therefore inspire the Welsh rule, as well as donating words that it affected? Granted, we cannot rule out the possibility of two separate developments of prothesis, but I think that from the evidence of Latin loanwords like ysgol, we may assume that British Latin too had this rule of vowel addition that we see in Romance.Īnother feature of Latin loanwords in Welsh is that they don’t seem to have come with their H’s still attached. In fact, Welsh displays this addition of y- even for words that once started /sC/ but are not of Latin origin, such as ysgwydd ‘shoulder’. The Main Arts Building of Bangor’s prifysgol – university, or prīma schola in Latin. The first three of the words above have the Welsh counterparts ysgol, ystad and ystafell. The thing is, Welsh loanwords from Latin show it too. Since we find this phenomenon across French, Catalan and Spanish (and Italian used to have it too), we can assume that the rule has early origins in the Late Latin period, when the different Romance dialects were yet to emerge. A well-known case of this comes from the Romance languages, in which we see how a vowel was added to words in Latin that began with /s/ (as in English sun) followed by another consonant. Prothesis is a sound change, in which a new sound over time is added to the beginning of a word or set of words. What can Welsh tell us about what British Latin, spoken in southern Britain c. This piece looks at seven features that will together provide my answer to the following question: In particular, my target is British Latin immediately after the end of imperial governance, when it was perhaps at its geographical peak. This route back to British Latin helpfully avoids the complications of written sources.ĭiscussing what we can learn about British Latin from the languages it had influences on, namely Welsh, is my task today. From its lasting silhouette, we may identify some specific features of the Latin spoken by ordinary people based in Roman Britain, since presumably it was these people who were transferring words from one language into the other. I’ve written previously about the great legacy of Latin within Welsh words, but only briefly touched on what kind of Latin the Pre-Welsh language was in contact with. This was the main Celtic language in Britain in those ancient days, and it would become Breton, Cornish and Welsh. One way in which British Latin left a big impression was in the development of Brythonic. For an article that exemplifies this, I recommend Schrijver’s The Rise and Fall of British Latin (2002). Where then does our evidence for British Latin come from? It comes indirectly, from seeing its influences on other languages and from trying to fill in the gaps in the story of language in Britain. Distinctive features in this Latin may not necessarily be British- isms.Ī letter from Octavius to Candidus, from Vindolanda. Besides, sources like the Vindolanda letters come from a military context, and the Roman army was a multinational and multilingual organisation, conscripting and moving soldiers around the empire. Writing has its own rules, and may not accurately reflect everyday language, sticking instead to an expected formal, perhaps archaic register. Furthermore, texts like the Vindolanda tablets and the Bath curse tablets are amazing and insightful, but they are not unproblematic sources for the analysis of a distinctly British Latin. I don’t hold this opinion because of lots of direct evidence our sources for Latin of this era in Britain are minimal. However, in Britain, popular Latin was not to endure, since the incoming Angles and Saxons would upset the linguistic lie of the land. Elsewhere, Latin would over time produce the Romance languages (French, Spanish, Catalan, Italian and so on). I disagree with the alternative view that the Romans brought Latin to Britain and then took it all home with them, leaving the barbarian Britons none the wiser. This is to say, at least in the south of what is now England, Latin had become the majority mother tongue of the population, just as it had on the Continent. 410 AD), Latin had become a common language of the population of Britain. One opinion I, as a linguist, hold is that by the end of the official Roman administration of Britain ( c. |
